Privacy Policy

Bouncer ("we", "us") operates the Bouncer app and bouncer.social, a service for creating and joining private parties. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

Information we collect

You give us

• Account details — email address, name, and username.
• Profile photo — a photo of your face. A profile photo is required to request access to parties so hosts know who is asking to attend.
• Party content — party titles, descriptions, dates, addresses, flyers, chat messages, announcements, and any photos or videos you upload.

Collected automatically

• Location— if you turn on "Parties near me," or use location to fill in a city when creating or browsing parties, we collect your device's coordinates. See below.
• Push notification token — a device identifier used to deliver notifications, if you allow them.
• Purchase records — a record that a hosting fee was paid, including the transaction identifier. We never see or store your card number.
• Security logs — limited records of sensitive actions (sign-in, party creation, moderation) for abuse investigation.

How we use location

Location is opt-in. If you enable "Parties near me," we store your device coordinates so we can notify you when a party is shared publicly near you. If you turn the setting off, we delete the stored coordinates.

Your coordinates are never shown to other users. They are used only to compute distance on our servers. Parties shown in Discover are matched by approximate city area, not by your exact position.

A party's exact address is only visible to its host and to guests the host has accepted, and only once the host's reveal window opens. It is never shown on public pages.

Photo screening

Two separate checks happen to photos, and it matters where each one runs.

Checking that a face is present (profile photos only) happens entirely on your own device — inside the app, before anything is uploaded. The photo is not sent to us, or to anyone else, for that check. All that ever leaves your device is the result: whether a face was found.

To be precise about what that check is: we detect whether a face is present. We do not perform facial recognition, create a faceprint, or attempt to identify who you are. No biometric template or scan of your facial geometry is generated, transmitted, or stored — not by us, and not by any service provider. Nothing from this check is retained after it runs.

Screening for explicit or unsafe imagery is different: profile photos and party flyers are sent to Amazon Rekognition for that check before they are stored, so that unsafe images never become visible to other people. That screening classifies what an image depicts; it does not analyse anyone's facial features. Images are not retained for it beyond the check itself.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication.
• Vercel — application hosting.
• Stripe — payment processing for web purchases.
• Apple & RevenueCat — in-app purchase processing and verification.
• Google Firebase — push notification delivery.
• Amazon Web Services — automated image screening.
• OpenStreetMap / Zippopotam — converting places and coordinates into city names. Coordinates are sent for this lookup.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to investigate abuse or protect someone's safety.

What other users can see

• Your name, username, and profile photo are visible to other users.
• Your email address is not shown to other users.
• Messages and media you post in a party are visible to that party's host and accepted guests.
• If you host a party and mark it as shared, its title, flyer, date, and city area are publicly visible in Discover — its exact address is not.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, photos, messages, memberships, and any parties you host. Guests of those parties are notified that the party was cancelled.

What we retain: records that a payment occurred (amount, date, transaction identifier), kept for accounting, tax, and payment-dispute purposes, and limited moderation records where someone was banned for abuse. These are detached from your profile and no longer identify you by name, email, or photo.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us at support@bouncer.social and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that restrict each user to their own data and the parties they belong to. Chat photos and videos are stored privately and served through expiring links. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these protections seriously.

Children

Bouncer is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at support@bouncer.social and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app.
